30 Dec 2023. This 2-year-old terrapin appeared to be looking
up the window to "see" whether his master is flying home.
VET CASE. Emergency. A terrapin vomited pellets and had
respiratory distress at the mother-in-law's place. Tele-consultation
by Dr Sing Kong Yuen.
The terrapin vomited and had respiratory distress after he was
brought to the mother-in-law's place for boarding while his owners go
overseas on holiday.
The owner phoned me as the exotic vet at
a big emergency practice was not available. He had been to Toa Payoh
Vets before but it was closed.
It is a long tele-consultation
story as we discussed his case.
Two days later, this photo
from his mother-in-law and a video showed that the terrapin was back
to normal.
The mother-in-law's photo showed that the terrapin
appeared to be looking for his master's aircraft from overseas as he
was much concerned about the terrapin.
"It is an
award-winning photo," I texted the owner.

(Going green) is the right thing to do for future generations.
But certain solutions possible only if planned well ahead and executed in advance.

A 72-year-old retiree had a free eye check up at his church by Eagle Eye's Dr Wesley Chong.
He said now that his right eye is very good as he can see clearly.
No pain during cataract surgery but medication in the eye took over 2 hours to go away.
He can see far and will need reading glasses.
He didn't want the bifocal lens as it will cost more and has some complications.
Total costs around S$7,500
Less doctor's discount $1,000
Less Medisave deduction $2,500
He paid around $4,000.
Outcome: Excellent. He is very pleased with the outcome.
In 2024, he will get the cataract done by the government hospital.

I stayed in this airbnb house in Coogee, Western Australia. The poinsettia tree is a rare sighting in house gardens in WA. A probable reason is that it is hard to maintain. On closer look, the leaves have been attacked by fungus causing white spots and brown leaf rot.

Filial piety has many aspects. One aspect is to repay the burden borne by one's parents by reciprocating the care one's parents have given.
