A young poodle passes fresh blood in the
stools for one day.
Abdominal palpation is very useful to detect the presence of
foreign bodies in the stomach and lower intestines. This video
demonstrates abdominal palpation by the vet. There was a slight
reaction to the first stomach palpation, but the poodle twitched and
did not cry out. No other pain reaction in the intestinal areas.
So, there was no need to X-ray this poodle. Medication resolved
the problem. The dog recovered fully in 3 days. ADVICE. Abdominal
palpation can detect pain, lump or foreign bodies inside the
gastrointestinal duct. However, some owners prefer X-rays directly.

The 10-year-old male Lhasa Apso had a skin tumour on the left hip area for the past 2 years. Recently it got infected. The dog kept licking it and biting it such that the whole body had a bad odour. The owner brought to Vet 1 who did a FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) and blood test. He quoted about $2500 for surgery to remove the tumour.
The owner had the surgery done by Dr Daniel Sing in Toa Payoh Vets. The video shows day 3 after surgery. The dog's stitches had been stuck to the bandage. The owner came to Toa Payoh Vets for wound cleaning. So far, so good.
He did not want histology of the tumour, so it is not know whether it is cancerous or not. He said Dr Daniel had told him that the tumour excision had a 1-cm margin. ADVICES. Do not wait 2 years as the skin tumour could have turned cancerous. It is also more costly for surgery. Phone 6254-3326 for appointment.

A starfruit tree in garden of Lentor MRT Station. Starfruit flowers are very small, about 1 cm across. Pink. Many do not develop into starfruits. Red weaver ant seen. The white "glue" joining two leaves is larval silk. More leaves will be glued to form a leaf nest in this starfruit tree. The contractors keep pruning this tree, so the weaver ants will not be able to build their home. The contractors are like typhoons in this sense, destroying leaf nests.
