PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS. Weaver ants. Starfruit flowers. Use tripod. AV Mode
13 Sep 2024
Weaver ant, leaves glued to make leaf nest. Larval silk is used to glue leavesl
A starfruit tree in garden of Lentor MRT Station. Starfruit flowers are very small, about 1 cm across. Pink. Many do not develop into starfruits. Red weaver ant seen. The white "glue" joining two leaves is larval silk. More leaves will be glued to form a leaf nest in this starfruit tree. The contractors keep pruning this tree, so the weaver ants will not be able to build their home. The contractors are like typhoons in this sense, destroying leaf nests.
Canon 103mm, 1/100sec, f/11, ISO 500. Manual, Tripod.
