The Harbourfront ferry terminal connects passengers to locations in Indonesia including Batam and Bintan. The young ferry services staff was polite, happy and helpful when my group enquired about checking in tickets.

I would like to highlight The Anur Cafetaria in this terminal. It has a friendly and helpful man called Faisal, 36 who served food and beverage efficiently.

Customers need to embark on ferries and hence need quick and fast attention. He ensured no customers wait more than a few seconds as he quickly prepared the food and drinks they ordered.

One outstanding character about Faisal was that he was very kind when I asked for water as I needed to take oral medication. He didn't charge me for a plastic cup of warm water as he could have told me to buy a full bottle of water. I was waiting for my ferry to Batam gates to open after 9am.

I thank him for his kindness to a Senior via this post and wish him many more years of good health and happiness with his family in Johor.

I took 10 shots. 8/10 shots are over-exposed by the very bright lighting on top of the food products.

 Not easy to take this photo as it has very bright lights over the food products. Harbourfront Ferry Terminal Anua cafetaria. This is a photo of kindness I experienced from strangers.

The staff named Faisal, 36 who wore a black skull cap (white cap would be easily dirtied) went to Mecca last year from Johor and explained to me what was involved in carrying out the haj. He offered me a cup of warm water free for me to take my oral medication. He could have asked me to buy a bottle of water.

In this situation, my trip to Batam was "fruitful" in my understanding of the haj.
