On 24 Feb 2025, at around 7 pm, I was photographing a wild flower called the Chinese Violet Flower in the Yio Chu Kang Crescent road’s secondary forest.
My Canon R5 was supported on a tripod. I focused on the flower. "This
secondary forest does not have any rare creatures," I said to myself. I
had been taking wildlife photos of this forest since 2018 for over a
hundred times.
I had been taking wildlife photos of this forest since 2018 for over two hundred occasions.
The evening was still bright as the sun set behind me. I took a photo of the Chinese Violet before going home.
Suddenly, I heard a loud machinery sound and a large brown wide-bodied "insect" descended onto this flower. "What is this flying insect?" I quickly pressed my camera shutter to take at least two photos before it flew fast away.
I create this video to let future generations know that the particular species of the hummingbird hawk moth did exist in Singapore.
The videos of other hummingbird hawk moths in Europe in this video, were shared by other people overseas.
