VET CASE STUDY: Warmed water for sick anorexic red-eared sliders help in their recovery. Warming the water in the tank of the sick in-patient red-eared slider, amongst other measures, helps in the treatment of sliders. This video discusses the correct water temperatures for different ages of sliders.
Videos shows one well managed Singapore pet shop selling juvenile red-eared sliders.
Full-spectrum UV lighting, a basking heat light, and a dry docking area (floating platform). Larger tank for bigger sliders. Water temperature 31 deg C for larger tank, 26 - 27 deg C for smaller tank.
OWNERS TO NOTE:
Prolonged immersion in water may cause shell rot due to fungal infections. Some new owners leave their sliders inside the container of water for 24 hours a day, leading to shell rot.
Cold waters make them lethargic.
