PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Frangipani Rust
Frangipani rust is a fungus that causes brown spots
and brown
discoloration of petals & leaves
Canon R5, 105mm, 1/250
sec, f/8, ISO 100.
Bright sunshine 4.50pm. Capella Singapore.
Frangipani tree in bloom.
I was on the 2nd floor of
Reception, nearly on eye level with the frangipani flowers to get a
better view. Most flowers are on top half of this tree adjacent to
the building where Reception is located.
Soil well nourished and watered - produced blossoming white
frangipanis. But frangipani rust has spores that is spread by air and
water.
I noted "pustules" or small globular spots on
the stalk of the flowers (photoshopped away) and brown spots on
leaves (photoshopped away). These are Frangipani Rust moulds. I
photoshopped away a big brown petal but left the brownish tips of the
petals as seen in the image.
