5799. Healthcare. Gangrenous toes in an elderly man in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Conversation with a diabetic elder on 2 Apr 2024. He is feeling better and more positive now that all his toes had been amputated and the wound is healing very well.

BUT HE WAS SEVERELY DEPRESSED BEFORE THIS:

 ----------------------

His 2nd toe was as black as the black shoe polish. Stiff and glistening.
"The doctor said to wait for it to drop off," Peter told me.
"It should be cut off as it is already dead tissues!" I replied.

4 GENERAL ANAESTHETICS
STENTING.
4 procedures under General Anaesthesia as various toes become gangrenous. A metallic tube with stent inside was inserted in his thigh vein and passed to the toe to open up its blood vessels.

1. 2nd toe
2. 3rd toe
3. 4th and 5 toe
4. lst toe (big toe).

Ineffective as the gangrene spread.

4 GENERAL ANAESTHETICS FOR TOE AMPUTATION.
1. 2nd toe
2. 3rd toe
3. 4th, 5th and lst toe.
3. Scraping of wounds to get blood to flow.

CONCLUSION:
Insulin injections must be given daily as directed by the doctor. Peter did not do that. He forgot to bring insulin on his travels to Malaysia and also forgot to jab insulin in Singapore daily.
