VET CASE STUDY. Eversion of cheek pouch. Dr Sing Kong Yuen, BVMS (Glasgow).
I told
the young couple that Dr Daniel was overseas in Thailand and
therefore unavailable to accept their hamster who had a complete
eversion of the right cheek pouch. The wife said: "Its difficult
to find a hamster vet. Some vet clinics do not do hamster surgeries."
"2 days ago, his cheek pouch had disappeared
back into the mouth, but today, it is not possibel for him to do it.
It's very large!" the wife said. "My hamster is unable to
eat and drink."
It was a Sunday. Since this was an
emergency, I went to the clinic to remove the cheek pouch. The
hamster is able to eat and drink normally just after surgery and is
OK as at 7 days post surgery. (Video 3/3).
