PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO OF A tattered wing grey pansy butterfly at Potong Pasir public garden
Thursday, 30 Mar 2023:
The Potong Pasir town has a beautiful clean and green Kallang
River. A small plot of garden with a fitness corner equipment is near
the river. This spot is tranquil and deserted at 12 noon. Two
butterflies fluttered past me.
I set up my camera and tripod to video one grey butterfly
perched on a leaf as a video is worth a thousand images. The place
has these two butterflies and a yellow one. Would they pose for a
video?
No such luck, but I was surprised when one perched on a
leaf and allowed me to video him at 8 feet away. It is NOT a common
occurrence. Here is the 1-minute video to share with viewers.
The
Grey Pansy (Junonia atlites atlites) is seen in the Potong Pasir
public garden, Singapore on 30 Mar 2023. Upper side is grey. Usually
2 distinct eye spots per wing.
