4481. Gasping slider

 [7:40 pm, 28/11/2022]  Yes
[7:40 pm, 28/11/2022]  Keep it shallow half of his shell height
[7:40 pm, 28/11/2022]  Change of water after every food and poop
[4:05 am, 10/12/2022] David Sing: Good morning. How is your red eared slider today? Have you checked whether he swims lop-sided?
[11:24 am, 10/12/2022]  Hi Dr Sing. We have tried to put him back to the main tank to get used to it for a couple of days
[11:25 am, 10/12/2022] Everything seems alright for now, except for that one time I accidentally pressed too much medicine and put him back and he started gasping but I took him out for a breather and he’s fine afterwards
[11:25 am, 10/12/2022]  Think he choked
[11:26 am, 10/12/2022]  But swimming wise…no lopsided swimming as I can observe, appetite and strength seems good, just not sure how can I really know if he recovered because the nurse said reptiles tend to have a long recovery period and during recovery they can hide their symptoms very well
[11:28 am, 10/12/2022] David Sing: Each individual is unique in health issues. If he can swim level and eats and poop normally, he has recovered
[11:29 am, 10/12/2022] David Sing: Please send a video if he swims level. I admire your artistic decoration and design of your tank setup

[11:38 am, 10/12/2022] So far only got these 2, but don’t think can rly tell because he’s distracted by me and food haha, once he’s done basking I’ll try to take a better vid!
[11:40 am, 10/12/2022] David Sing: You are correct. Need to video him without him knowing
[11:41 am, 10/12/2022] David Sing: Do you have a separate big tank with no plants? That will be better to assess level swimming
[11:42 am, 10/12/2022]  👍🏻 we’ll fill the quarantine tub up with water to show

Hi Dr Sing, we tried several times, this guy don’t want to swim unless in main tank 🥲 keep walking around but not sure if can observe if level swimming

[7:30 pm, 10/12/2022] David Sing: He is scared of new environment. Let him swim short periods in usual tank. Probably not fully recovered in lung congestion which involved over 50% of lungs as seen in X ray
[7:31 pm, 10/12/2022] Actually we’ve been letting him swim, eat and sleep in the main tank for the past 2 days just so he can get used to being at home again
[7:31 pm, 10/12/2022] So far so good as observed…but we’re keeping up with the medicine
[7:31 pm, 10/12/2022] Dr Daniel said max he recommend is only 20 days of Baytril and if all seems well then after 20th day can stop
[7:31 pm, 10/12/2022] David Sing: Ok
[7:31 pm, 10/12/2022] So his last dosage would be on 14th December

[7:35 pm, 10/12/2022]  So far from what I’ve observed in the main tank he swims alright, not like the first time when he was lopsided
[7:35 pm, 10/12/2022] Will keep up the observation
[7:38 pm, 10/12/2022] If let’s say really likely not fully recovered because 50% of lung is congested, after 20th day when we stop feeding the baytril then is there anything we can do for him next? We’re planning to bring him for another X-ray next month to check it out
