SINGAPORE WILDLIFE: An orange leafhopper seen in Yio Chu Kang Cres forest on 2 occasions

LEAFHOPPER IMAGE 1.

16 Aug 2021.  8.30am. Bright sunshine. Yio Chu Kang Cres forest. Hard to photograph. Really hops from leaf to leaf. Seldom stay still.


Scientific Name: Bothrogonia addita Bothrogonia is a genus of leafhopper with a large number of species distributed across the Old World. They can be told apart from others in their tribe by the pattern of setae on the hind tibia.

An orange leafhopper ( Bothrogonia addita ), about 2 cm long in Yio Chu Kang Cres forest, Singapore, 19 Oct 2022, 6 PM.


It is a destructive pest as it is a plant feeder that sucks plant sap from grass, shrubs or trees.
