3297. Maltipoo has periodontal disease Stage 1 - gingivitis

P.D. Stage 1

Gingivitis - gums are inflamed and swollen
Some plaque covers the tooth
Reversible

A Caucasian dog owner came today for the Maltipoo's annual wellness examination and vaccination.
I saw the premolar teeth  has gingivitis. Cooked foor was fed mainly. "He does not like his teeth brushed," the gentleman in his 50s said.

"Use the finger brush, at least 3 times per week," I advised.
Dental scaling (video) was done. The dog woke up early as minimal anaesthesia was used.

GINGIVITIS is Periodontal Disease Stage 1.
After dental scaling, the disease is reversible as there is no damage to the periodontal membrane. The tooth will be intact and normal. The treatment with anaesthesia costs $250 - 300.
