SINGAPORE - 7 FEB 2026: 10am. Young families view airplanes taxiing or towed at the View Mall, Terminal 1, Changi Airport. It's a quiet place to watch planes coming and going and to reflect and spend "me time" for single Seniors and mobility-impaired people. Outings to this place promote physical and mental wellness.

Cumulus clouds are detached, white, fluffy clouds with cauliflower-like tops and flat bases, typically appearing in fair weather. Known as "heap" clouds, they form at low altitudes (below 2,000 m) due to convective, upward currents of warm air. They often appear in the morning, grow throughout the day, and evaporate by evening, though they can develop into tall cumulonimbus clouds.
Key Characteristics and Types:
  • Appearance: Distinct, sharp outlines with brilliant white, sunlit tops and darker bases.
  • Formation: They are formed by thermal convection, where moist air rises and condenses, making them a sign of rising air currents.
  • Species:
    • Cumulus humilis: Wide, flattened, and small, indicating fair weather.
    • Cumulus mediocris: Similar to humilis but with more vertical development.
    • Cumulus congestus (Towering Cumulus): Tall, cauliflower-shaped clouds that may produce rain and can develop into thunderstorms.
Behavior and Weather Indicators:
  • Fair Weather: Small, scattered cumulus clouds often signify pleasant conditions.
  • Vertical Growth: If they grow vertically, they can indicate instability and develop into cumulonimbus clouds, producing showers.
  • Diurnal Cycle: Over land, they form during the day due to solar heating and dissipate in the evening.
  • Turbulence: They are often associated with turbulent air, which can cause bumpy flights for small aircraft.

5 Feb 2026.

I share a photograph of the Khatib Polyclinic which has an attractive modern looking architecture. Some red lanterns and string lightings were in place to celebrate the Lunar New Year on 16 Feb 2026.

The polyclinic was opened in May 2024.
I have not been inside this 26th polyclinic in Singapore as I visit the Yishun polyclinic generally.

I used the Canon R5, 75-300 mm, at 75 mm, 1/2000 sec, f/4 and ISO 500. My car was at the traffic light junction on Lentor Avenue.

My comment is that the banner with text "NHG Polyclinics, NHG Health" on the top of the wall should have included "KHATIB POLYCLINIC" to be more useful to first-time prospective patients.

Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel (Orchard Road)
  • Iconic Roof: The hotel is famous for its distinctive, green-tiled octagonal pagoda roof, which has been an Orchard Road landmark since 1982.
  • Rooftop Features: The top level features a resort-style outdoor swimming pool and a unique, tucked-away basketball court, offering a high-up, active, and relaxing space.
  • Secret Bar: Located on the lobby level (but conceptually "on top" of hidden cocktail spots), The Other Room is a famed, speakeasy-style bar.

4830. PHOTOGRAPHY 75 - 300mm. Logo of the Environment Building.

 4 Feb 2026. 11.12am

It is difficult for the average person to take a good road view of the front of the Environment Building which is close to many buildings in Scotts Road. This building has 25 stories housing offices and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment. It has a hawker centre but I have not been there.

Today, I was in the passenger seat of a car and the sky was bright blue illuminated the Environment Building attractively.

I used the tv mode to take a photo from Cairnhill Road with a 75 - 300 mm lens. The photo captured the logo of of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, making it attractive.

Settings were Canon R5, 75mm, 1/2000 sec, f/4, iso 200, tv mode. To buy photo:

NAMING OF HDB FLATS

What does it mean if something is ridged?
Ridged things have a raised line or band, like a ridged hillside or a ridged crease in an old person's forehead. A ridge is a raised row that can be seen or felt, and when something's described as ridged, at least part of it is shaped like a ridge.

The male white-cheeked carpenter bee (Xylocopa aestuans), often found in Southeast Asia, is distinct from the black-and-yellow female, appearing covered in fine, dense yellow or golden-brown hairs. Males are roughly 20-30 mm long, possess large eyes that nearly touch, a white patch on their faces, and no stingers.
Key Characteristics of the Male White-cheeked Carpenter Bee:
  • Appearance: Unlike the females which are primarily black, males are covered in fine, golden-yellowish, or brownish hairs.
  • "White Cheeks": Despite being generally yellow, both sexes are named for a small patch of white hair located behind their eyes.
  • Facial Markings: Males typically have a large white to yellow patch on their faces just below their antennae.
  • Eyes: They possess large green eyes that touch at the top of their heads.
  • Behavior: Males are known to "dive-bomb" or buzz around people, but because they lack a stinger, they are harmless to humans.
  • Habitat: Commonly found in gardens and tropical regions, often seen around wood where they are active pollinators.
While sometimes confused with other species, Xylocopa aestuans is distinct in its coloration, with the
