INDONESIA - 16 MAR 2026: 4.10pm. Bintan. A high-voltage transmission tower which is a structural steel lattice tower designed to support overhead electricity conductors. The structure consists of the metal lattice tower, insulators (which prevent the electricity from reaching the tower itself), and conductors (the cables that transmit the electricity). It transmits electricity from power plants to substations and eventually to consumers.

Friday 27 Mar 2026.
I visited on the first day of NATAS Travel Fair at the Singapore Expo in the morning. The exhibition venue was starting to fill up and more cars were streaming to fill the car parks.

The exhibitors pivoted to China and Japan tours as the Iran-US-Israel war is present. I don't see exhibitors showing tours to the USA and Europe.

Crowd inspection and control were excellent.

5785. Google review. Homm Laguna Bintan Island Suite 141

 16 March 2026 - 19 March 2026

I had a very pleasant stay at Island Suite 141 Homm Laguna Bintan as the 2-bedroom terraced house was beach fronting and facing sunrise. Surprisingly, the room door has no door bell.

The sea breezes were cool, blowing the coconut trees inwards away from the beach. The Tanjong Said Bay beach sand was very clean and well maintained with few dead branches, leaves or empty water bottles.

Service staff including the Lotus Cafe staff and transport buggie to Treetops restaurant in Banyan Villa were happy and helpful. The breakfast at the Lotus Cafe had local dishes as well as the cornflakes.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS:
I share a photo of the sunrise taken from my Island Suite 141 balcony with the sun having risen at 7.25am. The sunrise was scheduled at around 6.07am. I used tripod, AV mode,  Canon R5, 85 mm, 1/160 sec, f/16, iso 100, with EV reduced to -2.

5780. Panic attacks

----------------------------------------

Panic attacks are sudden, intense feelings of fear or distress often caused by a combination of high stress, genetic predisposition, and biological factors like an overactive "fight-or-flight" response. They can be triggered by
major life changes, trauma, stimulants like caffeine, or underlying anxiety disorders.
Common Causes and Triggers
  • Significant Stress: Major life changes (divorce, new baby), bereavement, or chronic work/financial stress.
  • Biological/Genetic Factors: A family history of panic disorder, or imbalances in brain chemistry.
  • Physical Factors/Stimulants:
Excessive caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, or drug withdrawal.
  • Traumatic Events: Past experiences of abuse, neglect, or severe accidents.
  • "False Alarms": The body’s fight-or-flight mechanism activates inappropriately due to hyperventilation or misinterpreting harmless physical symptoms (like rapid heart rate) as dangerous.
Underlying Conditions
Panic attacks can occur without an obvious reason but are often linked to:
  • Panic disorder
  • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Social anxiety disorder
  • Physical conditions like thyroid issues.
Common Symptoms
  • Rapid heartbeat or palpitations
  • Chest pain or tightness
  • Shortness of breath or choking sensations
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Sweating and shaking
  • Fear of losing control or dying
While terrifying, panic attacks generally last a few minutes and do not cause immediate physical harm, though they can significantly impact quality of life
