[05:32, 22/03/2026] Dr David Sing: So, it was a joy to see it in Bintan.

GOOGLE REVIEW   4 STARS

On 19 Mar 2026, I left Homm Laguna Bintan for Singapore at around 11.31am. Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal has an attractive large Garuda statue.

The officers of the Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal were courteous and helpful, efficiently clearing the ferry passengers for boarding.

It was a happy experience.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS:

I used the Canon R5, 75mm, 1/2000 sec, f/4.5, iso 320, tv mode, 11.21am, to capture the Garuda statue. I tried to avoid including the people and vehicles in front of the statue but didn't manage to avoid the people behind the statue.

Ensure that the horizon of the sea is level when editing. I had not given sufficient space for the tips of the wings as I was photographing from a tight spot at the entrance sliding door of the terminal. Hence, I nearly cropped off the tip of the left wing to get the horizon horizontal.

5873. Vet Case. A barking slider

Six year old red eared slider Aug 2025

Hi doctor, my terrapin just made this sound. I didn't manage to get a recording in time, but found a similar sound on youtube. Is this cause for concern?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wAoDPWExdDU

[13:21, 17/08/2025] Dr David Sing: If she is not producing the sounds frequently, no worries. I could not hear her sounds in your video
[13:39, 17/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: It is a croaking sound. You'll need to turn up the volume
[13:42, 17/08/2025] Dr David Sing: I heard it. If appetite is good, not to worry
[13:45, 17/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: Her appetite isn't good. We moved her to a relative's place yesterday so that they can look after her while we are on holiday
[13:45, 17/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: My relative informed me this morning that she had no appetite and hardly ate anything
[13:45, 17/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: Is this just stress from moving her to a new house?
[13:48, 17/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Stress is present when there is a new environment
[13:48, 17/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Wait for a day
[06:38, 21/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Good morning. Has your slider recovered from throat sounds and is eating now?
[06:40, 21/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Sorry. Not phoning you
[13:07, 21/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: The slider is doing better now. More relaxed, willing to eat, and making less of those barking sounds
[13:07, 21/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: The last time she barked was 2 nights ago, when she woke up in the middle of the night, walked around the room for a bit, then went back to sleep

5872. Vet case. Scutes

28 JUN 2025

Hi doctor, my terrapin has been having difficulty shedding her scutes. When I try to help her pluck them off, the scutes just break. How do I fix this?

Scutes will shed naturally in normal cases.

 15 AUG 2025

 [07:48, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: My terrapin laid 2 eggs! What do I do with them?
[08:17, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Dispose of the eggs 🥚 into the garbage bin. Please send video of terrapin. What is her age?
[08:18, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: She is 6 years old
[08:21, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Please send a video
[08:21, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Has she laid eggs before?
[08:23, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: First time laid eggs
[08:24, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: What is her weight?
[08:24, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Any signs of leg paddling yesterday?

 [08:25, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: What is her weight?
Uhhh, last measured was 1.7kg iirc
[08:25, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Has she good appetite? What do you feed her?
[08:26, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: Any signs of leg paddling yesterday?
None that we noticed. We let her out of the tank as usual, then after walking around the house, she retreated to her usual corner in the house to sleep
[08:26, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: Has she good appetite? What do you feed her?
Very good appetite. She eats like 3-4 spoons of terrapin feed pellets every day

 [08:26, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: this brand
[08:28, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: Any signs of leg paddling yesterday?
The only unusual activity was late last night, around 2am or so, when I heard her scratching at the wooden panels along the wall. But that is normal behaviour from her if I accidentally woke her up or the weather is cold
[08:30, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Which country are the pellets manufactured?
[08:33, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: Product of Taiwan
[08:56, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: Thank you for information.
[09:28, 15/08/2025] +65 9475 0905: Is there anything I need to do for my terrapin now?
[10:00, 15/08/2025] Dr David Sing: X-ray for any eggs

5870. Vet Case. Slider. traumatic wound. bleeding

Hi doctor, my terrapin just injured her foot. We found that she had accidentally ripped one of her claws out. We don't know how or when it happened, only that we found the blood trail leading to her injured foot.

The wound looks raw but the blood flow is very slow. It only comes out when she walks and puts weight on that foot. As we are pressed for time, we only applied a handiplast plaster to her foot to try and protect the wound.

As we are unsure whether any of our medications are suitable for her, we did not apply any antiseptics or wipe with alcohol swab.
Is there anymore first aid that we can do for her?
