PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Use TV mode when photographing peahens and chicks.

I was on the buggy when Shah, the driver pointed out to me the peahen coming for peanuts when the weather is not hot. He was moving and I took 6 shots with my camera on AV Mode. Only the first shot was sharp. I should have set my camera on TV mode.

Canon R5, AV, 24mm, 1/40 sec, f/11, ISO 100. Photo was taken while the buggy was moving. Only the first shot out of 6 is sharp! No time to use TV Mode.

SINGAPORE - 16 JUN 2024: At 5.30pm when it is not hot, this free-roaming peahen will bring her two chicks to the hotel to eat her favourite peanuts, offered by the staff.

I was on a buggy to Palawan Beach when the driver told me there was a hungry peahen with two chicks looking for her favourite peanuts. I managed to capture one good photo out of six. Peahens are free-roaming in Sentosa and they have to walk around to look for some food for themselves and their chicks. Some are culled as guests (Singaporeans mainly) are "afraid" of wildlife even in this golden age of the internet!

My family checked in today, a bright sunshine afternoon.

I write to thank Lyn at the reception for being kind enough to offer me the Staff Lift to go down from the tea floor to the reception as Capella Singapore does not have a lift for guests.

I also thank the others at the reception for being attentive and especially to Shah for his excellent buggy services and for showing me the peahen with two chicks coming to Capella at 5.30pm for "peanuts".

I managed to capture one good shot of the peahen out of six as the buggy was moving and I did not set my camera to shutter priority. This photo is for Shah, with my best wishes for his future career.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Slight breeze. Use TV Mode to get sharp image of frangipani flowers. If you use AV Mode, you may get blurry images or you need to shoot many to get one sharp shot.

Frangipani tree top at 2nd level of balcony of Capella Singapore. I use balcony top to support the camera and focus on one flower's yellow core. This image is cropped to show 3 flowers although the original image has several. Too many flowers in an image will not be impressive, but it may be difficult just to photograph 3 flowers sometimes. Therefore, get a bigger image and crop to show 3 flowers.

White Frangipani: White is a symbol of purity, spirituality, and devotion. White frangipani flowers are often used in religious ceremonies and offerings to the gods and ancestors.

A Capella Singapore white frangipani flower for you. One of the blossoming white flowers from the frangipani tree is on the right of the hotel. Photo was taken from the 2nd floor balcony - quite close to the snow-white flowers.

1. Gentrification is the transformation of a neighborhood from low value to high value. It is viewed as a process of urban development in which a neighborhood or portion of a city develops rapidly in a short period of time, often as a result of urban renewal programs, including real estate investment.

2. It is important to preserve heritage and nature. The URA will redevelop brownfield sites and "try to delay or slow down the need to open up "greenfied sites".

Will an x-ray show lung cancer in a dog?

Common symptoms include difficulty breathing, exercise intolerance, or non-productive cough. However, some dogs only experience weight loss (despite a good appetite) and/or lack of energy. Other dogs have no symptoms at all. Diagnosis of lung cancer usually starts with a chest X-ray.

 Can you see tumors on X-rays?

The soft tissues in the body (like blood, skin, fat, and muscle) allow most of the X-ray to pass through and appear dark gray on the film. A bone or a tumor, which is denser than soft tissue, allows few of the X-rays to pass through and appears white on the X-ray.

 

What is the most common lung tumor in dogs?

Bronchogenic adenocarcinoma is the most common primary lung tumor, making up 75% of cases. Dogs can also develop squamous cell carcinoma or sarcomas in their lungs as well. As primary lung tumors are typically slow growing, they can become quite large before they are finally diagnosed.

X-rays of the lungs from an infected dog will usually reveal white spots in the lung fields which are consistent with lung fluke cysts. X-rays are also useful to determine how many cysts are present and where they are located. On occasion, an asymptomatic dog will be diagnosed when X-rays are taken for other reasons.
