 Airbus A380s are double-deck planes.
 

Each A380 has a total of 471 seats. SIA is finally completing the retrofits on long-haul suites, business class, premium economy class and economy class cabins.
 

Superjumbos can operate only on high-capacity routes and airports must have wide runways and larger terminals to support these jumbo jets, e.g. Melbourne and Beijing

SIA A380 with registration 9V-SKP is the latest to resume flight operations on 7 Dec 2023.

Fleet management strategy is to deploy flights with maximum capacity to markets with high demand.

Airports with fewer landing slots will allow SIA to maximise its revenue.

Delays in delivery of the Boeing 787-10 and 777-9 aircraft scheduled to arrive from 2025.

keep these A380 aircraft for the medium term of 5 to 8 years, given the significant investment involved.

Had lunch with 2 others at Gochi-So Shokudo casual Japanese food outlet in Millenia Walk. Seats are just fitting. Service and food are excellent in taste, cooking and quality. 

We had the Loin Don (for Kat, $9.90), Chicken Don (for me, $13.90) and Chick Katsu Curry (for Judy, $16.90). 3 glasses of hot water $1.50. The rice is well cooked.Total bill with 10% Service Charge ($4.22) and 9% GST ($1.50) amounted to $50.60.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: I used Canon R5, Manual; Mode to get good image. I doubt my iPhone will be able to capture this image.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS:  Exceptionally bright 3/4 moon on 12th night of lunar month.
I used Manual Mode and tripod and took the image close to midnight over Lentor Hills.

Canon R5, Manual. 105mm, 1/500sec, f/4.0, ISO 200.
20 Mar 2024. 11.52pm.

In Manual Mode, I set ISO 200, f/4.0 and vary shutter speed 1/500 sec - 1,500 sec. In this image, I took the shot at 1/500 sec and could see the craters. No clouds in the sky to mask the moon surface.

 GOOGLE REVIEW:

My review is about the better position at ground level to take a good attractive photo of the Twin Towered skyscraper of 37 stories of The Gateway which was designed by I. M. Pei.

One must be prepared when one encounters the right position from inside one's passing car.

Be Prepared. When my car stopped, I shot the 2 buildings of The Gateway from my car window.

On 20 Mar 2024, 5.25pm, my car stopped in the traffic and my right front window had an excellent view of both towers as seen through the plants. I had my camera around my neck. I shot two frames and I would say the attached photo is of sufficient interest to the viewer of the structure of I.M. Pei's building design.

I rated my photo as 5-stars for its image composition and attractiveness. I share the settings with reader.

5679. Story 1. A very old lady travels on the subway alone. Story 2. A happy positive old lady.

STORY 1. A very old lady travels on the subway alone on a Sunday morning.

Twelve hours earlier, at 9am, I parked my car outside the Upper Thomson MRT Station and took the train from Upper Thomson to City Hall. At the Bishan MRT Station to Marina Square line, a thin sun-tanned wrinkled skin, white-haired bun woman in her late 70s or early 80s boarded the train. 

 

A jade ring in her wedding finger. Translucent light green squarish false precious stone  ear rings. Dark grey dress with two broad vertical stripes. An imitation faded washed often "Burberry" shoulder bag with threads fraying from the straps. Eyes are bright. No glasses. Face grim. Dark brown low heeled shoes for enclosed toes.

 

Immediately a young lady gave her the corner seat reserved for the aged, pregnant or disabled. In the train she whipped out her slim handphone to see her image wearing the same dress in her Chinese text WhatsApp. Later she rifled her hand bag, uncapped a small bottle, her index finger rubbed some oil from inside the bottle and sniffed the oil.

A sad expression. Had all her peers passed away?Where was she going on this fine Sunday morning? I alighted at City Hall to take some photos of Suntec City. She was still in the train.

4 Apr 2024.
STORY 2. A happy positive 77-year-old lady.
Shan's mother had been working all her life as a food court's server. She had a Rolex watch for long service from the first boss of Kopitiam which is now taken over by NTUC.  Her husband passed away some decades ago but she has two adult children, a son and a daughter who care for her.

Around 3 years ago, she had injections for macular degeneration. Her daughter Shan promptly took her to a specialist in private practice. A series of 4 injections into the eye over a year. She is now OK and can see and be active herself. She is forced to retire as Kopitiam in Kandang Kerbau Hospital wanted to transfer her to Changi Airport.

Staying with her sister-in-law and an adult son in the same house is good for senior citizens as they don't feel lonely.  She goes out for exercises, shopping and meals with friends and calls me occasionally to chat in Cantonese.  Travels to Malaysia are with Shan. She does not like airplane travels or animals.
