4082. Singapore wildlife - 1 feb 2022. First day of Chinese New Year visit. short-horned grasshopper
1 Feb 2022 morning - The first day of the Lunar New Year is the time to welcome deities and visit the elders in the family to pay one's respects to them.
A young adult Shorthorned grasshopper (Valanga nigricornis) sat on the corner of the tiled car porch of my house. The nanny saw him and told me as I am into photography.
He could have been the green nymph I had photographed growing up on the leaf of my garden’s ladyfinger’s plant around 2 weeks ago.

4080. How to syringe feed the red-eared slider with oral medication. Stomach tubing.
30 Jan 2022.

2. My video advising owners not to do it
STOMACH TUBING A PAINTED TURTLE TO FEED MEDICATION
This video is a veterinary education video showing how the painted turtle is stomach tubed by its owner. The full original video is at:
A vet in the U.S taught the painted turtle owner how to stomach tube the painted turtle with respiratory illness to feed oral medication via stomach tubing (with a syringe). He created this video on YouTube.
Part of the video is reproduced here to educate turtle and tortoise owners on stomach tubing.
In this video, the vet is said to have taught the owner how to do stomach tubing. The owner grips the extended neck to prevent the neck from being retracted inside the shell. A small syringe with medication is pushed into the throat, down the gullet into the stomach. The plunger of the syringe pushes the oral medication into the throat.
I do not advise owners to do it as the syringe may get into the windpipe into the lungs causing death or serious injury as the syringe may traumatise the throat when pushed into the mouth.
Ask the vet to give the antibiotic injection or do the stomach tubing. An adult painted turtle shell is 5 to 10 inches long, but in this video, the turtle appears to be younger.

4077. Medical conditions. Ingrown toe nail
An ingrown nail occurs when the nail itself grows into the skin. Surgery to cut away the ingrown toe nail on the left side of of the big toe of the RIGHT FOOT 2 years ago leads to no more painful toe.

4076. A dwarf hamster has protruding eyeball earlier and stitch breakdown later.
The owner WhatsApp two short videos:
13 Apr 2021
Video post surgery after lump removal from the flank. "May I ask if this is normal? Should I bring him down again? Not sure if he bit his stitches. Thank you." Check up showed stitch breakdown but the wound would heal.
12 Dec 2021
"Hello doctor! My hamster's eye coming out of the eye socket, do you think it is possible to slot him in for a consultation today?" The appointment was made for 1.30 pm.
The right eyeball was protruding due to rubbing of the eye continuously. Painkillers resolved the problem.

4075. An old pug has "dementia".
20 Jan 2022.
The 13-year-old spayed female pug was panting continuously, so the owner brought her in for a check up. "She appeared to have dementia," he said. "She was not able to recognise me sometimes."
The rectal temperature was 37.5 deg C. I got a blood test done. Then an IV drip before sending her home to recover for dental work as he few teeth were plugged with thick tartar.
Blood test showed abnormally high platelets and urea. The liver enzymes could not be analysed.
