SINGAPORE - 24 SEP 2026: 10.48 am. The MALE Common Parasol (Neurothemis fluctuans) dragonfly, seen in the Botanic Garden of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital has a vibrant reddish-brown body with deep red patches covering the bases of its wings, bordered by clear tips. However, the female looks different, featuring a duller yellowish-brown body and mostly clear wings. It is a relatively small skimmer dragonfly frequently spotted  in local parks, gardens and ponds, open wetlands and forest edges. The males love to perch prominently on the tips of tall grass or reeds to watch over their territory.
