5821. Spotted Tortoise Beetle

 The Spotted Tortoise Beetle (Aspidomorpha miliaris) has a flattened shell-like body with dark red or black spots in a light pinkish or yellowish background.

Adults measure 1.5 cm in length. The elytra (hardened forewings) have transparent edges. It feeds on plants of the Ipomoea genus such as sweet potato leaves.

 SINGAPORE - 5 MAR 2026: The Spotted Tortoise Beetle (Aspidomorpha miliaris) has a flattened shell-like body with black spots in a yellowish or pinkish background. Its elytra (hardened forewings) have transparent edges. It feeds on plants from the Ipomoea genus such as sweet potato leaves. The adult measures 1.5 cm in length.
