SINGAPORE - 23 JAN 2026: 11.35am. Laundry is hung out to dry from the windows of a Housing and Development (HDB) apartment building in Ang Mo Kio town. This traditional method uses long bamboo poles extended through dedicated external holders. It utilises sunlight and air for drying clothes. Newer HDB flats use external retractable clothes drying racks which mitigate the safety risks associated with handling long bamboo poles at height.
