VIDEOGRAPHY TIPS. Full moon. Camera settings for Canon R5, 24-105mm lens
For video recording of the moon using a Canon 24-105mm lens, follow these settings for the best results:
Camera Settings:
1. Mode: Manual (M)
2. Resolution: 4K (if available) for best detail.
3. Frame Rate: 24fps or 30fps (Higher frame rates can be used for slow motion but aren't necessary.)
4. Shutter Speed: 1/50s (for 24fps) or 1/60s (for 30fps) (Keep it around double the frame rate for smooth motion.)
5. Aperture: f/8 - f/11 (For sharpness and to control brightness.)
6. ISO: 100 - 400 (Start at 100 and increase only if needed.)
7. White Balance: Daylight (5500K) or Custom (To avoid color shifts.)
8. Focus Mode: Manual Focus (MF) (Autofocus may struggle in low light.)
9. Image Stabilization: Turn off if using a tripod; leave on if handheld.
Additional Tips:
Use a tripod to avoid shake.
Enable focus peaking if the camera has it to get the sharpest focus.
Use digital zoom or crop mode (if available) to get a closer view.
Use the camera’s exposure meter to avoid overexposure.
Shoot in a dark location with minimal artificial light interference.
Avoid auto settings to prevent the camera from overexposing the moon.
