PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Vagaries of Life. Homeless in Japan.
On 30 May 2006, I
visited Ikebukuro, Tokyo. It was bustling when I went out at 5.30am
from my hotel. Seibu ikebukuro is a large department stall with links
to a train station and a food court.
At 5.44am, I walked past
two homeless persons sleeping outside the Seibu store. They slept on
mats and left at around 6am.
Life is unpredictable. There are
many reasons for being homeless and the State usually helps such
people.
Every developed country including Singapore has
homeless people. This photo shows that Seibu Ikebukuro was kind
to the two homeless people on 30 May 2006.

"vagaries of life" refers to the unpredictable and often capricious nature of life. For example, "We are all subject to the vagaries of life. Although we may do our best to prepare for whatever may come our way, we may still end up homeless.".
