The old Shih Tzu keeps rubbing his left eye, bites owner when his left side is touched.

The cause was his left eye infection and corneal ulcer due to eyelid gland growth - a meibomian gland tumour and painful left ear. 

Electro-surgery to excise the eyelid tumour and ear irrigation resolved the problem. No more biting of the owner when touched.
