4097. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma

non-Hodgkin lymphoma - a treatable form of cancer of the lymph system. chemotherapy for 6 months.

Over 100 different types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.  It develops in the IMMUNE cells.

 

Symptoms of unmanaged non-Hodgkin lymphoma include pain, night sweats, weight loss, swelling and fevers. Some kinds of lymphoma are asymptomatic and are found "accidentally while doing tests for other purposes."

 

Severity of illness depends on where the lumphoma origiantes. If it starts in the brain, the prognosi is worse. Outcomes are better if it is localised to a lymph node.

Underlying health issues may complicate a patient's response to cehomtherapy, particularly for older people. Some people have very good prognosis.
