Workplace safety.  "Now more cases," h-e said. "The reason is that contractors are pushed to complete a job much faster than normal. If they can't do it, another one will.  Hence more accidents.

S.T. Aug 14, 2022. Why workers are still dying - and what Singapore is doing about it.

32 worker deaths this year (Aug 2022).

1. Longstanding root causes that cannot be fixed overnight. Research sows that accident rates go up during times of economic recovery. In the wake of the pnademic, workers have to rush to clear the Covid-19 in-induced backlog and meet looming deadlines.

2. Work lean as many foreign workers have gone home.

3. But experienced workers die. Not a lack of training or job experience. Cause is people are ramping up  (work) because there had been a period of difficulties and restrictions etc.

Tendency to cut corners

 4. construction and oil; and gas are reliant on migrant workers who do ot have the knowledge about the work they are employed to do here.

no chance to develop their skills over time beforethey carry out high-risk tasks.  Competency is important,

management has to take lead. If there is a casualty, hit with a stop-work order....thousands of dollars lost daily and still need to catch up on the time lost. does not make sense for developers.

to improve safety monitoring and near-miss reporting, tenology e.g. CCTV cameras.

conclusion. smaller firms to raise standards ....

integrate safety with health and the work processes....no worker death.

4. Before pandemic, workplace safety. All time low of 1death  per 100,000 workers last year. Below 1, countries like Nehterlands, Sweden, germany and uk
