[5:11 am, 05/08/2022] David Sing: Good morning with young and matured Spatheflowers from a small garden outside and to the right of the entrance to the Istana.
[5:13 am, 05/08/2022] David Sing: The young spatheflower has a white petal-like collar and its stem is beige in colour. The stem has numerous tiny flowers. The mature spatheflower has a yellowish green petal-like collar and its stem is dark green. Can you see both of them?
[5:16 am, 05/08/2022] David Sing: The leaves are large and they are used as ornamental foliage in the Istana exterior which is nearer to Plaza Singapura and is shaded by tall trees. The plant thrives in indirect sunlight and hence you don't see many in public parks and roadside gardens set up by NParks.
[5:18 am, 05/08/2022] David Sing: The large leaves look beautiful when they are well maintained. I think the Istana gardener must have "bathed" them as my close up photos show no dust or dirt from the busy traffic nearby.
[5:19 am, 05/08/2022] David Sing: This is the 2nd photo, but it has the young and mature spathe flowers next to each other. Have a good Friday.
