IMAGES FROM SINGAPORE MIMOSA PLANT SEED PODS

In Singapore, the mimosa plant is not popular as an indoor plant. It grows wild in the secondary forests and seeds are not collected here.

Mimosa leaves fold when touched. However some of them in Yio Chu Kang Crescent secondary forest do not have this behaviour.

MIMOSA PLANT SEED PODS IN SINGAPORE

Mimosa plant seed pods in the Yio Chu Kang Crescent Secondary Forest in Nov 2021. The pods are not hairy unlike some species in countries with four seasons. Some Mimosa leaves don’t fold when touched. Locals rarely keep Mimosa as indoor plants, but there is a great interest in indoor potted plants as more people work from home amid the stresses of Covid-19 curbs.
