3606. Shell rot. A 4-year-old red-eared slider and an 8-year-old slider.

CASE 1. 4-year-old slider
Shell rot carapace - thin white scratchy lines.  Plastron - white patches and one ulcerated area.

1. Not basking. Insufficient basking space. The slider submerges in water for long period of time e.g. over 20 hours in tank shared with the other slider.

2. Sunlight, UVB light and Diet deficiency in calcium phosphorus Vit D. Seldom eats vegetables or pellets.

3. Traumatic injury to shell. Mounted by another slider introduced 4 months ago. Broken shells --- fungal infections come in.

CASE 2. Two 8-year-old sliders get shell rot. One has more white patches on carapace.
 Anti-fungal treatment by vet, sunlight and balanced diet
