3292. VET CASE STUDY. Urolithiasis. Advices on X-rays for urinary stones

2008 case reviewed by Dr Sing Kong Yuen, BVMS (Glasgow).
No digital X-rays were available in 2008.

 

 

The Miniature Schnauzer had difficulty in passing urine. The urine was red. Diagnosis of urolithiasis was by physical examination and laboratory tests.

 

 

Urine Test. Struvite stones analysed via urine examination. 

X-rays show struvite stones inside the bladder.

TREATMENT WAS BY THERAPEUTIC DIET TO DISSOLVE THE SMALL STRUVITE STONES. No surgical removal of stones in this case. Science Diet S/D was fed. No more bloody urine or difficulty in peeing after a few weeks.
