3287. Apr 12, 2019. Singapore Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre. Lunch at Regent Hotel

Some lunches are excellent for joy and laughter. I had lunch at 1.30pm at Regent Hotel.

The circular block of deep yellow cheese was placed in an unstable position near the edge. When I tried to cut a slice of this hard strong smelling rock, the block swayed and nearly fell off the edge! It was laughter from my host.

.
"Where is your husband?" the waitress who had worked some 30 years there asked my host.
"He is upstairs," my host replied.

We went upstairs for lunch instead of having sandwiches at level 1.

We had a long chat till the waitress wanted us to shift to another table as it was past 4.30 pm. Time flies when you have great conversations.

I posted an e-thank you card to her. I saw this bird at the Singapore Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre at 12.30 pm walking alone in the heat and humidity.

I wanted to buy an apron from the Singapore Botanic Gardens Gift Shop, but doubted it would fit a big-sized Caucasian. The salesgirl asked a visitor to show me how it would be worn and she obliged. She does sewing for charities in Australia. "The strings are a bit short behind," she told me. The cost was $45.

The Singapore books are very interesting.

Outside there is the Sealing Wax Palm which is used as the logo of the Gardens.
