Eye injuries are emergencies. Get veterinary attention immediately to save the eye.
Delays in treatment may lead to eye infections and damage. This means that the eye is damaged beyond repair. The only option will be enucleation (eyeball removal), as shown in the following case study:
May 2016. Eyeball removal in a 16-year-old dog. Successful outcome.
Before eyeball removal, re-hydration. Use only isoflurane gas anaesthesia in very old dogs.
