3199. A 1-year-old Shiba Inu keeps coughing despite 2 weeks of antibiotics from Vet 1

Jun 26, 2018.
"Day and night, keeps coughing!" the young caregiver who is a medical undergraduate told me. "Vet 1 had given a course of antibiotics for the past 2 weeks. Now there is some drooling too."

A very painful trachea. No abnormal lung sounds.
Is this a case of chronic kennel cough or infestation of parasite inside he trachea?

X-rays show lung congestion but there are no lung sounds ausculated.
A very painful trachea from pharynx to sternal area. A swelling could be seen but not obvious in the X-ray.  A persistent cough could be due to kennel cough as breeder does not vaccinate.

UPDATE
As at Jul 7, 2018, the dog has fully recovered.

COUGHING DOG OUTBREAKS IN PASIR RIS DOG FARMS
For the past months, many dogs in various breeding and boarding kennels cough. The AVA had investigated and there is a virus. A vaccine is reported to be available for the dogs.  This dog might be one of the dogs from the affected herd.

3198. Injured cats and birds

2 cases of cats with wounds
Stitching is needed to close the big wounds

Syringe feeding a rescued bird with food and water is important for its survival. The owner may not know how to do it properly.
