3371. The dwarf hamster has no appetite again. swollen tongue

Feb 20 2018. 10m

"Some hamster owners know more about cheek pouch impaction than the average vet," I said to the mother. "They spend time researching the internet and googling!"

The daughter in her 30s did exactly that and said: "I google and watch you tube videos of cheek pouch in dwarf hamsters. They are mainly Toa Payoh Vets' videos!"

The owner had this picture taken. There was a large right cheek pouch swelling. "He only stores in the right cheek pouch," she said. As Dr Daniel examined it, the hamster dislodged all the seeds.
So he showed the owner that there was no more seeds now and sent it home.

The next morning, the owner phoned. "My hamster is not eating!" I asked her to bring it down for a detailed examination under anaesthesia.

As at Feb 22, 2018, 6 pm, I phoned the owner.
"Don't worry he eats a lot," she said there were many stool pellets. "But he does not drink on his own!"
"A eating hamster is proof he is back to normal," I asked her to send me the picture of the stools overnight as evidence of good health.
