The attractive golden clusters of the Yellow Saraca (Saraca cauliflora) are cultivated as ornamental trees in public gardens. A low tree has multiple clusters off Yio Chu Kang Road divider.
This Yellow Saraca is uncommonly seen in North Singapore in 2024 - 2025, as observed by Dr Sing Kong Yuen.
Hence, a video is made to show viewers how the tree and flowers look like. A blue-banded bee is seen sipping nectar from the flowers.

Morning visit to the "Heart of
Africa" part of Bird Paradise. A very well maintained and clean
place. No mosquitoes, butterflies or snakes are present in this area
according to one helpful Filipino man working for 18 years. He said
organic pesticides are used only around the ground areas where
keepers frequent.
Today, the weaver birds were many and
busy today, checking out the nests. At feeding time, a few species
linger on the feeding dish and do not bother with close-up
photography.
I managed to capture the photo of The
Bearded Barbet today. It looked lonesome eating without his kind (see
photo), as it appeared to be the sole species unlike the other
smaller birds!
Mr Brian Peck, an experienced
photographer had the 800mm lens. He was on a mission to capture a
photo of the Shoebill this time. He walked further up to the top of
the Aviary.
He got an excellent shot of The
Shoebill - a large wading African bird of 4 - 5 feet tall with an
8-foot wingspan. It is said to be the most terrifying bird in the
world. See these birds on his website, www.myfotografi.com.
TRAVEL CHINA STORIES. Dr Sing Kong Yuen, Oct 2024.
Wuhan tour. Long coach rides are normal in packaged tours as they are
convenient and cheaper than other forms of transport. It would be
boring in such long rides in many packaged tours in European
countries as the tour guides don't entertain the travellers with
songs and details about their country.
Sugar who is theWuhan tour guide is energetic and
professional in her work. She would inform the tourists about
Covid-19 pandemic, cultural practices and other stories in China.
In this October 2024 video, she entertained the 18
elderly tourists from Singapore with a song in Chinese. I have asked
Ms Ivis Kam Sheng Hui (LinkedIn), a professional interpreter who
provided the English version as follows:
A famous folk song
from Enshi, Hubei, China. This song is an ancient ethnic etiquette
of Enshi Tu Miao young men and women pursuing love and yearning for a
happy life.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF SONG SUNG BY TOUR
LEADER:
A boy. Then he went to see a girl. He asked about
her. Minority tribe. There are still many stories that I haven't told
you. From Hubei. Come next time. I was just going to talk about this.
Then I'll give you a song. "Six Cups of Tea".
Tour leader sings:
Male: I want to ask you one question after I
drink your tea. Are your parents at home?
Female: If you drink
tea, then drink tea. Why are you talking so much? My parents are
already 88 years old.
Male: I want to ask you two questions
after I drink your tea. Are your brother and sister-in-law at home?
If you drink tea, then drink tea. Why are you talking so much? My brother and sister-in-law have already separated.
Male: I want to ask you three questions after I drink
your tea. Is your sister at home?
Female: I want to ask you
four questions after I drink your tea. Four words, is your sister
(thai) at home?
Female: If you drink tea, then drink tea, why
are you so talkative? My sister (thai) is already in school
Male:
Drink five sips of your tea and ask you five questions. Is your
brother (thai) at home?
Female: If you drink tea, then drink
tea, why are you so talkative? My brother (thai) is still a
baby
Male: Drink six sips of your tea and ask you six
questions, how old is the sister (thai) this year
Female: If
you drink tea, then drink tea, why are you so talkative? The sister
(thai) in front of you is 18 this year
Female: Yo yeah yo yeah

*The last sentence is wrong, it should be How old is
this girl in front of me? not does this girl in front married. The
tour leader sings the wrong lyrics
