4411. PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Flowers in a backyard garden in Florrisa Park.

In May 2024, this particular property in Florissa Park, facing the Lentor Modern Condo construction, has a public space behind the backyard. This was used by residents to plant beautiful flowers such as the Dracena draco and Thunbergia erecta  as shown below. 

I took several photos and two plants as mentioned above are shown in this webpage.

As at 25 Dec 2024, the strip of public space had been concreted as a walkway, as Lentor Modern condos are being completed. So, there are no more flowers to bloom in this space. Fortunately, the "stump" of the Dracena draco is still present inside the backyard.

Good morning. According to the internet, this plant flowers once in a blue moon. I took the photo in July 2023 when it had so many golden yellow flowers. Today, it looks a "dead" stump!

SINGAPORE - 30 JUL 2023. Dracaena draco is an ornamental plant with sword-like leaves and clusters of yellow buds. It is spotted flowering in a back garden in Lentor Estate.

 A group of Seniors who met during the Vietnam Tour meet for a Christmas lunch in Singapore, as imagined by me, by the sea, in an al fresco cafe surrounded by butterflies and pretty blossoms. ChatGPT created this image.

WHAT IS A PERFORATED CORNEA? 

A perforated cornea in a cat is a serious eye injury that occurs when all layers of the cornea are destroyed. It can lead to blindness or even the loss of the eye

CAUSE:

• Corneal ulcers: These can be caused by a variety of things, including scratches, dirt, exposure to chemicals, or a viral or bacterial infection. The most common cause is the feline herpesvirus (FHV). 
• Penetrating trauma: A foreign object or wound that completely passes through the cornea. 
• Cat claws: A common cause of corneal lacerations in cats.

 

 SYMPTOMS

 

• Pain
• A visible wound on the eye
• Involuntary closing of the eyelids
• Excessive blinking or squinting
• Discharge
• Redness and/or swelling around the eyes
• Cloudy eyes
• Rubbing and/or swiping at the eye

Diagnosis of Corneal Laceration in Cats
History of trauma to eye, Physical examination, Eye Test

A definitive diagnosis by taking an eye test and administering special eye drops that will temporarily dye the cornea, highlighting any damage present. 

 

 Fluorescein Dye Test. A drop of fluorescein dye or paper strip with fluorescein is placed between the eyelid and the eye for 5 minutes. Residue of green dye left on the corneal ulcer indicates the cornea is ulcerated. Normal corneas do not get stained green.

How do you treat a ruptured cornea in a cat?

Mild cases can be treated with topical eye drops and medications, while more serious cases may be treated with surgery or eye removal. 

 Surgery:
What is tarsorrhaphy? Tarsorrhaphy is the joining of part or all of the upper and lower eyelids so as to partially or completely close the eye.

Temporary tarsorrhaphies are used to help the cornea heal or to protect the cornea during a short period of exposure or disease.

 This procedure aids in protecting the corneal surface of the eye while promoting and accelerating the healing process. Tarsorrhaphies are classified as either temporary or permanent. If the tarsorrhaphy is temporary, the cornea is expected to heal within two to eight weeks.

 7 Dec 2024 Performance at Gateway Theatre by Pei School of Dance.

I am a grandparent.

I enjoyed the performance very much especially those of the first-time younger dancers.

No videography or photography is permitted during the performance is permitted so that the audience has clear views of the dances.

Is there a possibility of purchase of a segment of the dance by parents?

I attach a photo at 3,000 pixels (printing 10x8-inch photo) of the end of performance in case parents and grandparents are interested in printing 'memories' of the participants.
