 On 26 July 2023, I attended the launch of a new anti-parasitic product for cats. 

This product is said to be selling like hot cakes in the U.S.A and Europe. There is a shortage of some stock for the Small Cat in Malaysia and Singapore.

Please be informed that Boehringer has just launched a new product – Nexgard Combo Spot-On For Cats.

 

*Note: - The Broadline For Cats, which has already been discontinued, is replaced by this Nexgard Combo For Cats.

                - The stock for Nexgard Combo 2.5-7.5kg Large Cat is now available for your order placing.

                - Due to supply constraint at Boehringer, the shipment for  <2.5kg Small Cat has been delayed. ETA is November 2023.

 

NexGard® COMBO offers unparalleled protection for cats: It kills a broader range of parasites than any other isoxazoline-based cat parasiticide currently available on the market.

Active ingredients are esafoxolaner (the new generation of afoxolaner), eprinomectin, and praziquantel.

 

We would also like to highlight that this product will only be distributed exclusively to vet clinics/hospitals, and not for over the counter retailing.

4125. Bladder stone in rabbits

HOW TO PREVENT BLADDER STONES IN RABBITS?


1.  Ensure your rabbit is fed a suitable diet. 

This must consist of 85% hay and grass. Timothy, brome, oat and meadow hay are suitable for rabbits.

2. Do not feed rabbit food that is high in calcium. Alfalfa hay is high in calcium so should only be fed to very young rabbits and pregnant/lactating female.


3. Feed less pellets which should comprise around 20% of diet.

4. Do not let the rabbit eat plaster of paris or non-rabbit food.

5. Provide sufficient drinking water.

6. Sludgy urine and urine scalding are signs of urinary tract or bladder infection which may lead to bladder stone formation.

 

Typical symptoms of bladder stones include:

 

1. Pain in urination.
2. Sludgy urine.
3. Bloody urine.
4. Urinating small amounts.
5. Loss of litter training.
6. Urine scalding.
7. Hunched posture.
   
   Early veterinary treatment is advised. Surgical removal of stones is usually the method of treatment.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS:  Moringa flowers and the Palm Bob butterfly. Focus on eye of butterfly.

 The Chinese name of the Moringa (辣木), pronounced "la mu" in Putonghua and "lat mok" in Cantonese, means "spicy (hot) wood", and is reminiscent of the English name "horseradish tree".

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Use tripod, TV at 1/200 sec and ISO 100 to get sharp images. If you use AV, you need to take multiple images to get one sharp one.

The Palm Bob (Suastus gremius) is a butterfly. 25 Aug 2023, 9.53am. It suddenly landed on the leaf which I had focused with my tripod. I quickly snapped 3 photos. When I changed position of the tripod, it became skittish and flew off fast.

I am Dr Sing Kong Yuen, founder of Toa Payoh Vets. Peter has been doing a great job for the accounts of Toa Payoh Vets since 2017 when he started his firm. He also did the accounts for Asia USA Realty (S) Pte Ltd which is now Asiahomes Realty. The years flew by and the last time we met was his invitation for me to attend the Mission Impossible Charity Movie in Lido in which he was the Platinum Sponsor. I am glad that he has been blessed and was able to give back to the community by sponsoring this Charity Movie.

We had tea today at Triple One as he took time to catch up. I have another photo for him taken after tea. The two Kopsia fructicosa flowers were planted outside Triple One are to wish him more success in the years to come.
