4102. Vet case study. Dental problems in the rabbit.

Rabbits have only 28 teeth – 2 main incisors top and bottom (the big teeth you see at the front), 2 peg teeth (little tiny incisors beside the main top ones), and 22 premolars and molars (the grinders at the back – each side has 6 on the top and 5 on the bottom).

The incisor teeth are used to cut grass and the molars for chewing it.

The most common problem rabbits suffer from is malocclusion – this is where 2 teeth that are supposed to meet in the middle don’t meet quite square, leading to asymmetrical wear. This can result in abnormal overgrowth of the incisors, and sharp spurs, points and edges on the molars that cut the tongue and cheeks when chewing.

Most likely to occur in house rabbits fed on mainly pellets but less hay and rough diet.

Signs of dental disease include loss of appetite, drooling, weakness.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Time of day to get the photo of the fruit capsule with seeds will be the early morning.

4099. INDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY using shutter priority.

INDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY using shutter priority.

I seldom take indoor photos as there are various lightings and movments of people, such that I don't usually get good images. In this case, the image looks ok with shutter priority. This is because my table is not full. I tried shutter priorty at 24 mm. My Canon R5 has lens 24 -105 mm.

4098. PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Inside the subway train.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Inside the subway train.

Lighting keeps changing as the train moves between station letting in various types of light and darkness.

I use AV and lean against the railing for support and stablisation of my camera. I set to f/11 and ISO 400. Focus on the eye of the man (2nd from R). Handheld.

Don't set is ISO 100 as it gives blurry image in this situation.

Canon R5, 1/80 sec, f/4.5, ISO 2000, 24mm, TV, Handheld

PHOTO 2. USE SHUTTER PRIORITY (TV) is better as it provides a sharper background than using AV
as the aperture is now f/4.5 which lets in more light as compared to f/11 in the lst photo. ISO 2000 is necessary but it gives sharper image.

It is not always good to use low ISO like ISO 400 when you need a faster shutter speed, e.g. 1/80 sec as compared to slower shutter speed of 0.4 sec as in PHOTO 1 (another separate image in my instagram).

4907. Using the P Mode

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: The P Mode is for beginners. You just focus on image and snap the photo in ordinary lighting conditions.

I don't use the P Mode anymore. The AV, and TV modes ARE often used by professional photographers in a hurry while the M mode is the best of all modes to capture better exposed images.

4906. PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Backlit blue pea flowers.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIP:

PHOTO 1. A backlit Blue Pea (Clitoria ternatea) flower. Backlit means illuminated from behind. The evening sunlight from behind makes this photo attractive. A very rare occurrence to get backlit flowers grown in a back of a house in Lentor Estate as there must be the sun rays at the right angle and the right timing to backlight the Blue Pea flower.

The light purple Blue pea flower is rare. Most are deep purple. 27 Jul 2023, 6.18pm, Singapore
