4000. Esplanade Forecourt Garden - Oriental Garden Lizard sightings on Oct 18, 2019 and Nov 15, 22, 2019

Nov 15, 2019. Friday. Evening 6 pm
I did some research in the 11th floor room of National Library Board, Victoria Street. I visited The Esplanade, doubting I would see any lizards there. I did see 3. One lizard was on the same tree (Tree 1) but on the trunk.

Nov 22, 2019. Friday. Morning 10 am
A bright and sunny blue-sky morning. I did not expect to see the lizard on Tree 1 again. He was partially visible on the side of the pole. I nearly missed seeing it. It scrambled down the pole after seeing me clicking him lying on the pole looking upwards. Within a few seconds, it reversed and moved up the pole to further up the tree branches.

Oct 18, 2019. Friday. Day after Kuan Yim Tan.
The gardener who had worked for 3 years in the Esplanade Forecourt Garden told me it is difficult to view any Oriental Garden Lizard as they are shy and will disappear into the bush or hedge.
"There should be over 100 such lizards," I could see that the Garden has sufficient garden for them to breed.
"Only around 10-20," he said. "They always stay on the same tree!"
"Have you photographed any?"
"No way. By the time I take out the handphone, it has disappeared."
I managed to see two other lizards today. One was a yellow one hidden inside the bush. Its movement under the bright morning sunlight attracted my attention.
The other one was high up on the tree (Tree 2) and spent some time there.

Breed at one year of age. Female lays 10-20 eggs inside the hollows of trees or soil.
It takes 8-9 weeks for the young to hatch. Bright red throats may be seen in the malesduring the breeding season.

3305. The poodle bleeding could not be clotted - low platelets
Last time, she was spayed. Her blood could not clot. Now she had a lower eyelid wound. The owner quickly applied some baking soda powder.
No serious loss of blood.
Blood test showed lower than normal platelet count too.
An auto-immune thrombocytopenia is likely.
Elevated liver enzymes and lowered creatinine and urea than normal.

3304. INTERN. The 10-year-old Shih Tzu has an itchy dry eye for the past 11 months. What to do?

The objective is to educate the owner on why I (Dr Sing Kong Yuen) advised enucleation in this case
Enucleation is needed as the dog sufferred chronic eye pain and itchiness. (This is not a video about how the eyeball is removed). So you have to plan how you will produce the script to answer the above objective to the owner.
Use edited video footages. There are 2 videos.
Use parts of owner's comments, parts of vet's comments and your conclusion.

corneal perforation (descemetocoele)....Intern to review my other cases and show images of descemetocole, chronic ulcerative keratitis etc.
Eyeball removal is an emotive issue for dog owners as for human beings.
This case, Dr Sing Kong Yuen gave his opinion. Recurring pain, loss of eyesight present already.....
In my opinion, the best solution is to remove the painful and itchy eye.

CONCLUSION
If the dog has lost his eye-sight as in this case and has to keep rubbing his itchy eyes against the wall daily to relieve his itchiness, the best solution for him is to remove the painful and infected eyeball. After around 14 days, he lives a normal pain-free life.
Early treatment of eye injuries may prevent enucleation if the corneal ulcerations are not serious. However, failure to get the eye treated by the vet or the treatment had not been effective may lead to recurring eye pain and dry eye. In such cases, enucleation may be best for the dog.
