The owner took the hamster home on Day 2 of in-patient. The
hamster had two upper front teeth overgrown backwards and upwards
into the hard palate. The teeth were trimmed. I followed up by
WhatsApp. The owner said the hamster was doing well.

FEB 2024.
However, the busy owner did not bathe or clean the
hamster's backside for the next few days. Video was given on 25 Feb
2024 to me. It showed the backside fur was still damp. The hamster
had stopped eating again.
I WhatApp whether he fed sunflower
seeds. The answer was No. He did not want to eat it.”
The
hamster did not want to eat the sunflower's seed , hence its teeth
were said to be overgrown according to the owner. The owner could
not send any images of the teeth. I advised veterinary review. He
would wait and
see.

PHOTOGRAPHY TULIPS: Use AV mainly. Manual with tripod is better.
Focus at 1/3 from bottom of screen and use f/16 if you want
overall image sharpness, so that you can see the tulips sharp in the
background.

CHINA - 5 NOV 2023: 7am. Morning bird murmuration in Hainan. Murmuration is the behaviour of a large group of birds that fly together and change direction together. They are usually starlings.Winter, colder months, end of breeding season. Roost together in grass reeds etc.

1. A fast shutter speed to capture the speed of the changing murmurations.
2. Aperture wide open
3. ISO below 800 to minimise digital noise.
CHOOSE YOUR FOCUS POINTS
1. Group mode in your autofocus settings. AF area will be larger, easier to track bird movements across the sky.
2. Single-point autofocus will work just as well.
LOOK OUT FOR PATTERNS.
1. Shoot in continuous mode as new patterns appear.
2. Some interesting clouds behind the birds.
3. Memory card is fast enough and has plenty of free space as you may need hundreds of shots to find 'the one.'

A dwarf hamster's ear tumour more than doubles its size every day. Vet 1 advised medication for next 7 days and surgery bit by bit, according to the lady owner. She sent one of several photos and videos for tele-consultation.
Fast-growing hard
left ear tumour in a dwarf hamster is likely to be cancerous. Early
surgery is advised. Surgery scheduled tomorrow Sat 4 May 2024.
1.
Bleeding is a common complication of this surgery which would be over
a large area, including removal of the ear lobe with tumour.
2.
Recurrence of tumour if it is cancerous and not all of it can be
excised away. In dogs, a 1-cm margin of the skin around the tumour is
recommended to be excised. This 1-cm margin is NOT practical in a
small dwarf hamster as the wound will include the whole face!
3.
General anaesthetic risk of death on the operating table as the
hamster is now weak and easily tired. Not eating much. Screamed when
ear tumour is touched indicating a very painful area.
