4060. PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: Oriental Garden Lizard basking on a tree trunk. Catch light.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: CATCH LIGHTS

10 Sep 2022:  CATCH LIGHT IN PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

Cannot get too close as the lizard will either jump off the tree or scurry up tree.
I was inside the car. Park close to it. Unwind window from passenger seat.
Support my camera on window sill of car or some inside car support from driver side.
Focus my Canon R5 on his eye. P Mode.
Took several shots continuous mode in sets of 3. Only 3 are OK. This is one of them.

Catch light in eye makes this photo an attractive one. It came from the morning sun, around 9.30 AM.

A catch light is a spark of light in your subject’s eyes. This spark will help you to draw your viewer’s attention to your subject’s eyes, making them full of life and, well, sparkling.

The light source must be visible as a reflection in the subject’s eyes.

4057. An old female Syrian hamster has pus discharges from her private parts. Open pyometra.

9 Sep 2022.

PYOMETRA is the presence of pus inside the womb or uterus. The female Syrian hamster showed yellowish thick pus discharging from her private parts for several days. The owner wanted antibiotics to treat the infection. In some cases, the hamster could be cured, but the pyometra will usually recur.

This case could not be cured using antibiotics. The lady owner contacted Covid-19 in the meantime and could not give medication. Toa Payoh Vets hospitalise the hamster for medication of antibiotics. The owner decided to have surgery to get the infected womb taken out. The hamster is well after the spay and is back home now.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS. Focus on one flower of the Bouganvillae. Use tripod

PHOTOGRAPHY TIP.  Focus on ONE flower as close to you as possible.

8 Sep 2022. Overhead bridge plantar box bougainvillae.

Bougainvillae is the most popular roadside plant.  The purple bracts of the bougainvillea are modified leaves. The actual flowers are the three tiny trumpet-shaped structures with yellow petals.

Canon R5  Aperture Mode, F/16  ISO 200. Tripod is needed. Breezy. Took 3 shots.

3 Nov 2022. 5 pm. Changi Airport. Terminal 3, along the road to outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIP: Focus on one flower
A rare sighting of pink-white bougainvillae as most of them seen in Singapore are one solid colour. The flowers are small, tubular and cream-coloured. They are covered by triangle-shaped and pointed pink-white bracts which are often mistaken for petals. Bracts are modified leaves.

Canon R5, Tripod is needed. Breezy. Take multiple shots.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIP. Stabilise your smart phone to get sharp images.

 22 Feb 2023.

White bougainvillae blooms in a high-rise condo. Taken by smartphone by Yen.
This is a sharp image. The image looks beautiful. It speaks to me.

Captioned by me.

Two white bougainvillae say “Good Morning” to me today.

The others slumber peacefully in the cool morning breezes.

A steady hand produces sharp images.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS ON FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY using smartphone.

Father's Day dinner last night. Pork ribs and Buffalo wings, corn and chat potatoes and rockets salad.

1. FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS
Original Poco X3 pro phone photo: Father’s Day Dinner in Australia. Excellent composition, but body parts are a distraction

2.  FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS - BODY PARTS IN PHOTO (Arrow) and in the uncropped image which is very attractive to viewers.  Poco x3 Pro smart phone cropped in the middle and viewed at 100%.  ORIGINAL IMAGE.

3.  FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS - NO BODY PARTS IN PHOTO
Poco x3 Pro smart phone viewed at 100% and photoshopped.
Arrow shows that it is extremely difficult to erase the “body”  of a person to pass it as stock photo. It has excellent composition and is AUTHENTIC (as forks and knives are at different angles!).
