PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS - Scarlet-backed flowerpecker bird is 9 cm long - high up the tree

PHOTGRAPHY TIPS: SCARLET-BACKED FLOWERPECKER
Dr Sing Kong Yuen. 21 Aug 2022.

Very difficult to get sharp images using a handheld camera as:

1. Flowerpecker is 9-cm long (very small sized) and high up the 1-storey high roadside tree.
2. Hand shakes pressing the shutter
3. Fast movement up and down tree in Lentor St Children's Playground.
4. A tripod CANNOT BE USED in this case as the bird is flying about.
5..I focus on the FRONT of the bird as much as practical,
6. I took continuous shots of over 100 shots, hoping to get one sharp image.
6. Overcast sky.
7. Canon R5, 24-105mm lens, P Mode,

#21Aug2022bird

21 Aug 2022 was an overcast day. I went to the Lentor St Playground to exercise. With the Canon R5 which is said to focus on birds better, I hope to take a better photo of the Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker.
In Feb 2022, I got one sharp image. It was posted to shutterstock at https://submit.shutterstock.com/catalog_manager/images/2127241658

This was a second chance to take this Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker who flew to the same tree in Lentor Street Playground. It is a small-sized 9-cm long bird darting in and out of this tree which is one-storey high. A sparrow-sized bird. No time to use the tripod. Hand-held. I took over 100 shots this time. This image is one of 3 sharp images. Canon R5, 24-105 mm lens, P Mode. Overcast sky.

WHATSAPP

A 9-cm bird darting in and out of the one-storey high tree. Sparrow-size, about the palm of an adult hand. Very difficult to focus to get sharp image. 3 sharp images out of 100 shots taken in Lentor St Playground yesterday. This was a second chance as the last time the bird appeared (on the same tree in the same location in the morning) was in Feb 2022.

4229. PHOTOGRAPHY. Flowerlets

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS: FLOWERLETS

Impossible to get sharp images using a handheld camera as
1. Florets are small and high up the ornamental roadside tree.

2. Hand shakes pressing the shutter and breezes blowing the florets

3. Lighting conditions.

4. A tripod was used in this case. I focus on the middle of the bunch of flowerlets.

Good morning. Life is complex, like the flowerlets of bright pink or snow white living together in one big branch.

FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS.
PHOTGRAPHY INSIDE A ROOM IN PUTIEN RESTAURANT

1. Position food away from distracting dishes, cutlery and cups.
2. Overhead lights reflecting onto the grey Lazy Susan turntable has been photoshopped away.
3. Canon R5. P Mode is easier for me.
4. I focused on ice chips on top of the bitter gourd slices. Single point central focus.
5. Place food on edge of the Lazy Susan.
6. The grey Lazy Susan provides good contrast to the white plates.

4227. A strict whacking father, 72 years old now. workplace safety

 This father was very strict.
1. Two sons in good jobs. 2nd son peddle and take drugs. 2nd son was thin. Suspected he was on drugs. Daughter married, now 43 years old.

2. Dry eye drops. Front teeth dropped out except one top incisor.

3. Broad chested, squarish face and stout - looks like a thug who will win in combat.
4. Twice rejected Cantonese-speaking lady friend as he said to friends he would not marry a Cantonese. Fated. Marriage lasts.

5. Empty nester. Booked travels with wife.
6. Father was a shareholder silent partner in a construction firm. Full time as a journalist. He learnt the ropes.

------------------------

Workplace safety.  "Now more cases," h-e said. "The reason is that contractors are pushed to complete a job much faster than normal. If they can't do it, another one will.  Hence more accidents.

S.T. Aug 14, 2022. Why workers are still dying - and what Singapore is doing about it.

32 worker deaths this year (Aug 2022).

1. Longstanding root causes that cannot be fixed overnight. Research sows that accident rates go up during times of economic recovery. In the wake of the pnademic, workers have to rush to clear the Covid-19 in-induced backlog and meet looming deadlines.

2. Work lean as many foreign workers have gone home.

3. But experienced workers die. Not a lack of training or job experience. Cause is people are ramping up  (work) because there had been a period of difficulties and restrictions etc.

Tendency to cut corners

 4. construction and oil; and gas are reliant on migrant workers who do ot have the knowledge about the work they are employed to do here.

no chance to develop their skills over time beforethey carry out high-risk tasks.  Competency is important,

management has to take lead. If there is a casualty, hit with a stop-work order....thousands of dollars lost daily and still need to catch up on the time lost. does not make sense for developers.

to improve safety monitoring and near-miss reporting, tenology e.g. CCTV cameras.

conclusion. smaller firms to raise standards ....

integrate safety with health and the work processes....no worker death.

4. Before pandemic, workplace safety. All time low of 1death  per 100,000 workers last year. Below 1, countries like Nehterlands, Sweden, germany and uk
