3912. Final Video. How is dental work and scaling done in your dog? Final Video.

Owners of old dogs are worried about anaesthetic risks in doing dental scaling of their old dogs. However, with lowered dosages and careful observations, most all old dogs do not die of anaesthetic reasons during dental scaling.

Bad breath and loose teeth are very common in many old dogs in Singapore. Many of the older generation of owners do not bring in the dogs for annual dental check up. The younger generation is more caring of their companions.

Thick tartar envelops the molar. Gum inflammation.
Periodontal Disease

At Toa Payoh Vets, I use minimal injectable sedation which is 10% of the recommended dosage for the body weight of this 17-year-old dog.

For some old dogs with heart disease, I use isoflurane gas anaesthesia exclusively and they do not die on the operating table when dental scaling is done.

Tartar cracked and removed. Plaque has been scaled away

If the dog has severe heart disease, I will reject any dental work. An exception was made in one case when the lady owner gave informed consent for dental work on her very old dog with heart disease coughing and dying from not eating.

She did not want any anaesthesia and that was her condition. The dog recovered her appetite and lived another few months, much to her delight.

3911. Photography tips. E-greeting card for Thanksgiving

Thursday 26 Nov 2020 is Thanksgiving Day but it is not a holiday in Singapore.

Thanksgiving Day is a holiday in the USA. It occurs on the fourth Thursday of November. Americans celebrate the story of the Pilgrim's meal with the Native Americans.

That day is spent with loved ones and for giving thanks. Most families observe with a large meal and sometimes a religious service.

An e-card is appreciated by your host who invites you for dinner. Turkey is the main attraction, hence a photograph of a roast turkey is suitable for a greeting card. Some use pumpkins.

The following shows how the final photo is created, using Photoshop 2021.

Original photo from
www.pexels.com

Contributors permit free
commercial or personal use, but there must be some
changes in the image.

I removed the bowl on the bottom and the corner area
on the right bottowm. I use brightness and contrast and shadows to
lighten the photo but it is too bright. I use "Smart sharpening"
to sharpen the image.

This photo has not much space to
put in more text. I use "Impact" fonts. HAPPY THANKSGIVING
is arranged away from the turkery.

I usse "Curve" to darken the image a bit. This card is good to send.

---------------------------------------------
Photoshop 2021 has "Filters--->Neural Filters
which create the following. They look terrible and are not
 suitable for sending to others.

Practise every day and you will be good at your digital photography.
You may be able to upload on www.redbubble.com and get a sale if your image as a "greeting card" if it is excellent.

Hence you earn passive income, but note that there are a lot of people getting into this e-commerce platform and many fail to get a sale.

3909. Cultures and lives of the Myanmar people in 2017. Dr Sing's travel stories

CULTURE

The majority culture is Buddhist and Bamar.  Indigenous cultures include the Kachin, Chin, Shan, Inle Lake Intha people and several hill tribes.

In traditional villages, the monastery is the centre of cultural life. However, elements of western culture were assimilated under British colonial rule with the education system being modelled along similar lines and colonial architecture still in evidence in major cities.

Friendly people in the village

Myanmar has around 55 million residents. 500,000 monks.

HISTORY.  Myanmar was colonised by the British in 1824 and remained under their rule until the Second World War, when Japan invaded and it became a major battleground. Burma achieved independence in 1948.

Pagodas are very common. Most Myanmar people go to the pagodas rather than go sight-seeing. This popular Buddhist pagoda is also a resort for the locals.

RELIGIOUS WORK.

2017 travel. I saw in one area, many villagers hold silver bowls and stand at the road side to collect donations from motorists, during the festivals and to build pagodas. They don't wear face masks and brave the heat and inhale the fine dust.

Buses are popular transportation for the general public as distances between towns can be far.
